Nicky Catsburg confirmed for FIA World Endurance Championship works BMW GTE assault

Nicky Catsburg has been confirmed by BMW Motorsport as a works driver for the 2018 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and will also compete in selected blue-riband events in the US. Nicky will compete in the all-new BMW M8 GTE and joins a stellar line up in the two-car entry with Augusto Farfus, António Félix da Costa and Martin Tomczyk although the final driver pairings will be announced at a later date,
Tom Blomqvist, Philipp Eng and Alexander Sims will also compete in the 12/24 Hour events but it is yet to be confirmed who will partner Nicky at the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the first of two visits to the Circuit de la Sarthe in the 2018/19 WEC super-season.

In addition to the WEC programme Nicky will also join Farfus, Eng and Connor De Phillippi in the endurance events forming part of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (IWSC) which will see the debut of the all new BMW M8 GTE at Daytona in January.
Nicky’s inclusion in BMW Motorsports’ ambitious global GT programme follows his successful progression with the German marque over recent years, including outings in ADAC GT Masters, IWSC, VLN, Blancpain GT Series and the Nurburgring and Spa 24 Hours where he took a sensational victory for the latter with BMW Motorsport in 2015.
“I’m super proud that BMW Motorsport has put me in this position and I’m very excited about their return to Le Mans next year,” Nicky said. “It’s such a cool driver line-up and the M8 is an amazing piece of machinery – such a sophisticated car.
“I’ve got the best of everything in GT Racing,” Nicky continued. “Le Mans is a dream come true for me and I’m also delighted to be going back to the States for the longer endurance events. It’s super-nice to be back with BMW Team RLL there. I’ll be at the ROAR test soon to continue what has been an intensive development period for BMW Motorsport!”
Nicky is also delighted to announce two new commercial partners in Prosperity Investment Management and BMW M Performance Parts as well as the continuation of long term partner KTO Logistics that will support him throughout the 2018 season.
