JAS Development Driver Erwin Zanotti joins Nova Race in Italian GT Championship
JAS Motorsport Development Driver Erwin Zanotti has joined Nova Race to campaign the Honda NSX GT3 Evo in the Italian GT Championship this year.
The 20-year-old Italian was today confirmed for a full season with the Varese-based team for the series, which gets underway at Monza this weekend.
Erwin will contest this weekend’s event, which is the opening round of the ‘Sprint’ section of the series, as his car’s only driver.
His campaign in Italian GT is confirmed little over a month after he joined the JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme, created by the builder of the NSX GT3 Evo, to enhance the career progression of some of the most talented young racers around.
The Desenzano del Garda-based competitor is the second JAS Development Driver to join Nova Race for the 2021 season as Jacopo Guidetti will pilot the sister car with Francesco de Luca.
Erwin has tested the NSX GT3 Evo several times in the past few weeks, gaining vital experience ahead of what will be his first season in GTs and only his second full season of racing.
Erwin Zanotti said: “This is a great opportunity for for me - as a young driver - to develop myself and become better in every aspect of motorsport, both for my driving and for my personal growth. After driving the Nova Race Honda at Vallelunga in January, I took part in the first workshop of the JAS Driver Development Programme in Madrid at our winter training camp two weeks ago. It was an excellent way to start the season.”
Riccardo Incarbone, JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme Manager, said: “It’s great that Erwin will have the opportunity to put what he learns, on and off the track, as part of the Driver Development Programme, into practice by racing the NSX GT3 Evo this year. Nova Race are a title-winning team who have made no secret of their ambitions in the Italian GT Championship. Erwin will have a great opportunity to test himself against some of Italy’s best racing talent this year.”
