Hyundai Motorsport reveals liveries for i30 N TCR customers’ WTCR season
  • Hyundai Motorsport, in conjunction with the customer teams involved, have revealed the liveries that the Hyundai i30 N TCR will carry for this year’s FIA WTCR season
  • The Customer Racing department has also published a Press Pack of information about the season, teams, drivers and car that can be viewed or downloaded online
  • The release of the document and images reflect Hyundai Motorsport’s “business as usual” approach during the disruption to motorsport surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
In conjunction with the customers entered for the series Hyundai Motorsport have revealed further information about the Hyundai i30 N TCR teams and drivers for the 2020 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup season, including a first look at the liveries for the coming campaign.
Four i30 N TCR will again take part for the third season of FIA WTCR competition. Title winners from the past two seasons – Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz – return as teammates for BRC Hyundai N LUKOIL Squadra Corse. Meanwhile experienced TCR team Engstler Motorsport move up to the WTCR grid for the first time as Engstler Hyundai N Liqui Moly Racing Team with drivers Nicky Catsburg and Luca Engstler – the latter returning for a full season in the series, having previously been a wildcard entry, before making a full debut in the competition at last year’s Race of Macau.
Both liveries share the same core colours, highlighted by the now familiar Performance Blue alongside the darker blue and red also seen on Hyundai Motorsport’s World Rally Championship (WRC) entries.
Together with the images of the liveries Hyundai Motorsport have also published a Press Pack of information about the series, drivers, teams and car ahead of the new season. The photos and the Press Pack can be viewed and downloaded from the Hyundai Motorsport media website.
The publication of the images and information reflects the “business as usual” approach from Hyundai Motorsport despite the current situation and uncertainty in motorsport surrounding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The company’s Customer Racing department remains committed to supporting TCR teams, both in WTCR and around the world in national and regional TCR championships, throughout the enforced break in competitive actions.
The exact nature of the 2020 WTCR season is still unknown. The planned rounds in Hungary and Germany have already been cancelled, with series organizers adding additional races to some of the remaining weekends to maintain the planned 20-race schedule.
Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Operations Leader Andrew Johns said: “The reveal of the liveries for a new season is always a big part of the build up to a year of racing, and the publication of the designs for the i30 N TCR competing in WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup is no different. It is also important that, despite the current uncertainty around the motorsport calendar due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we remain focused on preparing for the return to racing. Voluntarily working from home under measures intended to stop the spread of the virus the Customer Racing department is operating as business as usual to the fullest extent possible as we continue to support our customer teams, not only in WTCR, but also around the world in TCR series, as well as those rallying with the i20 R5.”
