CECCON REWARDED WITH ASIA WTCR ADVENTURE

*Rookie’s impressive Slovakia debut earns drive for rest of season
*Team Mulsanne to field single-seater graduate in China, Japan and Macau
*Youngster will benefit from team-mate Giovanardi’s experience

Kevin Ceccon’s impressive debut in the WTCR — FIA World Touring Car Cup presented by OSCARO has been rewarded with a drive until the end of the season with Team Mulsanne.

Ceccon, a winner in Auto GP, Formula 3 and GP3, scored points on his first appearance in the championship at WTCR Race of Slovakia in mid-July on the back of a short pre-event test.

Since then, Team Mulsanne, which runs the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris in WTCR OSCARO, has completed a thorough analysis of Ceccon’s performance at the Slovakia Ring – he finished sixth in Race 3 – and has recruited the 24-year-old Italian for the upcoming China double-header, plus the races in Japan and Macau after both parties reached agreement.

He will partner prolific touring car winner and fellow Italian Fabrizio Giovanardi as he continues the latest chapter of his motorsport adventure.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager, said:
“We were very impressed by Kevin's performance at the Slovakia Ring. To hire him represented some kind of risk, which we decided to take, and were rewarded by a points finish that added to the best result by Fabrizio so far this year.”

Ceccon said:
“I am very happy to continue in WTCR OSCARO. The call I got was not an easy challenge for me, but the fact that Team Mulsanne and Romeo Ferraris have opted to reconfirm me for the remaining rounds of the championship means that they were pleased with my work, and I hope to reward their trust on the track.”

François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, the WTCR OSCARO promoter, said: “Despite having no previous touring car experience, Kevin delivered a very impressive performance on his debut and it’s great his potential has been rewarded by Team Mulsanne. He’s clearly a good, young driver with a lot of promise and we look forward to seeing that flourish during the upcoming races in Asia.”

Upcoming WTCR OSCARO schedule:
WTCR Race of China-Ningbo, 28-30 September
WTCR Race of China-Wuhan, 5-7 October
WTCR Race of Japan (Suzuka), 26-28 October
WTCR Race of Macau, 15-18 November
