  1. Registration for Morocco Desert Challenge 2019 is open
  2. Organisation MDC18 as the new standard for 2019
  3. Coast-to-coast in new regions from April 12-20
  4. International Road Show for MDC19 in September

It's been a while since you have heard of us, but that does not mean that nothing has happened in the meantime. Soon after the finish of the epic Morocco Desert Challenge 2018 we started working on the 11th edition: Will it be bigger? That we don't know. Will it be better? Yes, as always! In this first newsletter in the run-up to the Morocco Desert Challenge 2019, that will take place from 12 to 20 April, we'll share a few ideas and news items with you.

1) Registration Morocco Desert Challenge 2019 is open

The main reason for this newsletter is the fact that today, August 1st, the registration for the MDC2019 is officially open. A number of enthusiasts could not wait and have already confirmed and paid their participation. In the car category, for example, one of them is Nuno Matos, the rally-raid champion from Portugal, who is not competing with the Opel Mokka this time, but with a Toyota Overdrive. Godfried Lintjens was the first with the SSV's, but he's not alone: no less than 20 side-by-sides from France, the Netherlands and Belgium have confirmed today! Chances are big that SSVs will become the biggest category in the 11th edition of MDC, but traditionally the interest from the trucks is also high.
Last year we had to disappoint a few people who were too late so do not wait too long to register; full is full. For those who register before the end of September, the price remains the same as 2018.

You can register as usual via Competitor Control. Click HERE for more information and registration or just to have a look at our renewed website.

2) Organisation of MDC18 as the new standard for 2019

Our rally is known for constant improvements and new developments, which are quickly copied by other rallies and serve as a new standard. In order to keep renewing and improving ourselves, we frequently ask our participants about their opinions and experiences. The evaluations of the Morocco Desert Challenge of 2018 showed that the novelties we introduced for the jubilee edition, such as a prologue, Iritrack, scheduled scrutineering, the large Rymax Lounge Bar, the occasional parties, etc. were particularly appreciated.

Something that is valued so highly does not remain a "one-off thing". We turn it into "the new standard". So we guarantee you, also in 2019, not only the best rally in the world, but also the greatest bivouacs and ambiance.

3) Coast-to-coast in new regions

As far as the competition is concerned, we will continue the way we introduced in the previous years: MDC19 will again have eight challenging stages, from the start on April 12 to the finish on April 20, with nearly 3000 kilometres of pure special stages with zero kilometres liaison, from coast to coast.

One of the new things in the upcoming edition is that we'll go much more to the south, even deeper than La'ayoune in the Moroccan Sahara, where we set out new, spectacular stages and bivouacs at new locations.
Our satisfaction survey among the participants also showed that 95 percent would like to return to Saïdia to finish. The reasons are obvious: at the coast, near the ferry, all together in 1 all-inclusive hotel and with 2 international airports around the corner.

But we also found some possible improvements here: we are currently negotiating to charter our own cruise ship/ferry, with which everyone, including the trucks and cars, can return to Europe. Nobody will have to wait for two days after the rally before embarking, but everyone can use one chartered ship that can bring us directly from Nador to the south of France the day after the finish.

4) International road show for MDC19 in September

On September 4, the kick-off of our international roadshow will be given in the Middle-East with not only the presentation of Morocco Desert Challenge 2019, but also the presentation of the epic documentary We Are Rally - 10 years MDC. More data, locations and further information will be published in the next newsletter (mid-August), on our website and on social media, but you can already write down the following confirmed dates in your agenda:

September 4:     Middle-East
September 12:   Belgium
September 13:   the Netherlands
September 22:   France

More presentations will be held in the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, UK, Italy, etc.
From 22 to 26 August we are also at the Foire du Tout-Terrain in Valloire, France's largest 4x4 trade fair.
